« My ambition is an economical result that cannot even be described as minimalist. A commonplace. »
Martin Szekely (born in 1956 in Paris) is one of the major figures in contemporary French design. A designer and creator of objects and furniture, he has developed a practice since the early 1980s based on a constant pursuit of economy, precision, and necessity. Rejecting any form of stylistic demonstration, he seeks to create objects whose form derives directly from their function, material, and method of production. The creator of iconic works such as Collection Pi, Containers, AF, Ne Plus Dessiner, and Matière Lente, Martin Szekely occupies a singular place in the history of contemporary design. Galerie Ketabi Bourdet presents a selection of his historical works, highlighting his essential role in the development of French collectible design.
