Jo Fish (born in Michigan in 1996) belongs to a new generation of American painters exploring the place of the body in a world shaped by images, digital technologies, and the history of painting. She graduated from the Stamps School of Art & Design at the University of Michigan in 2019 and moved to New York, where she developed a body of work combining painting, drawing, and collage in a practice deeply rooted in the materiality of the medium.

Her work takes the human body as its starting point, not to offer a faithful representation, but to explore its possibilities for transformation. Fragmented, distorted, elongated, or recomposed, the figures that populate her canvases seem to evolve within an unstable space where everyday objects, references to art history, and traces of digital culture coexist.
